Corporate Headshots in Auckland: What They Cost in 2026

Corporate headshots in Auckland cost from $345 for a short individual session, $575 for a standard session, and $2,300 for a half-day shoot at your office. Those are our own published prices at Life in Style Photography. What you pay depends on three things: how many people are being photographed, where the shoot happens, and how many finished images you need.

This guide explains what drives the price, how to work out the cost per person for a team, what to ask before you book, and how to prepare so you get good photos without paying for a reshoot.

TL;DR

  • Our headshot packages start from $345 (The Short one), with The Standard one at $575 and a Half day Office photoshoot at $2,300.
  • A single professional is usually best served by a session booked on its own. A team of several people is usually better served by one block of time at the office.
  • Ask every photographer whether the quote includes GST, how many edited images you receive, and whether location or travel costs apply.
  • Preparation (clothing, grooming, a shot list for your team) saves time on the day and keeps the cost down.
  • You do not need to know how to pose. A good photographer guides you through it.

What corporate headshots cost in Auckland

Auckland photographers price headshots in very different ways. Some charge per person, some charge a set-up fee plus a per-head rate for teams, and some sell hourly sessions. That makes a straight comparison hard, so it helps to line up quotes on the same basis: price, time, images delivered and location.

Here are our three headshot options, as published on our site:

PackagePriceBest suited to
The Short onefrom $345One person who needs a fresh profile photo for LinkedIn, a staff page or an email signature
The Standard one$575One person who wants more time, more outfit or background choice, and a wider selection to pick from
Half day Office photoshoot$2,300A team or a whole office photographed on site in one visit

All prices are in New Zealand dollars. The "from" on The Short one means the price starts there, so confirm the exact figure for your shoot when you enquire. The headshot services page has the current detail on each package.

Why prices vary so much

If you collect three quotes, you will probably see three quite different numbers. Usually the gap comes from a handful of things, not from one photographer being "cheap" and another "expensive".

  • Time on the shoot. A short session suits a single face and one or two looks. More time means more clothing changes, more backgrounds and a more relaxed pace.
  • Location. A photographer working in their own space has fewer moving parts than one who travels to your office with lighting and backdrops.
  • Number of people. Photographing ten people in a morning is a different job from photographing one person, because the work is a production line: consistent lighting, a steady rhythm and quick turnover.
  • Images and retouching. Some quotes include one edited image per person. Others include a gallery to choose from. Always ask.
  • Usage. Headshots for staff profiles and LinkedIn are simple. Images used in advertising or on large printed material can be priced differently.

Which option fits you

You need one headshot for yourself

If you are a lawyer, accountant, real estate agent, consultant or manager and just need a current, confident photo, one of the individual sessions is the place to start. The Short one is enough when you have a clear idea of what you want and one outfit ready. The Standard one is the better pick if you would like to try a couple of looks, or if you are camera-shy and want time to settle in before the best frames happen.

Most people feel awkward in the first ten minutes. That is normal, and it is why a little extra time often pays off: the later images tend to look more natural than the early ones. We built our approach around this. We guide you through posing step by step, so you do not need any modelling experience.

You are photographing a team

For a group, a single visit to your workplace is often the most efficient route. Our Half day Office photoshoot costs $2,300. We bring the equipment to you, set up in a meeting room or a quiet corner, and photograph people in turn, so no one has to travel and the working day is barely interrupted.

To compare this with per-person pricing, ask how many people fit into the time block, then divide the price by that number. If the half day covers a small team, the per-person cost may be well below the price of booking each person individually. If only one or two people need photos, booking separate individual sessions will usually suit better. When you enquire, tell us the headcount and we will advise which makes sense for your situation.

One more practical point: consistent style matters more for a team than for an individual. Matching backgrounds, lighting and framing make a staff page look intentional. That is one of the biggest benefits of shooting everyone in one visit.

You are a business owner who needs more than a headshot

If you also need images for your website, social media or marketing, a headshot on its own may not be enough. A personal branding session covers a wider set of images, such as you at work, in your space, and in lifestyle settings. Our personal branding sessions are priced at $575 (Starter), $1,035 (Signature) and $1,495 (Complete). Our guide to what personal branding photography is explains how the two differ and when it makes sense to upgrade.

Questions to ask before you book

Two quotes that look similar can differ by hundreds of dollars once the extras are added. These questions will help you compare fairly.

  1. Is GST included? Photographers who are GST-registered must add 15% to their prices. Registration becomes compulsory once taxable turnover reaches or is expected to reach $60,000 in a 12-month period. If you are claiming the cost as a business expense, you also want to know whether a GST invoice is provided.
  2. How many edited images do I get? Some packages deliver one retouched photo per person, others a set. Find out which.
  3. How long is the session, and how many outfits or backgrounds does it cover?
  4. Where does the shoot happen? At a studio, at your office or outdoors? Ask if travel or location costs apply.
  5. How long until I receive the images? If you have a deadline for a launch, a new website or a conference, say so up front.
  6. What can I use the images for? Staff pages, LinkedIn and email signatures are the usual uses. If you intend to use them in advertising, ask whether that changes anything.
  7. Can the photographer make a nervous person comfortable? This sounds soft, but it decides how good the photos are. Look at the photographer's portfolio for natural expressions, not just good lighting.

How to prepare so the shoot goes smoothly

Good preparation is the cheapest way to improve your result. None of it costs anything.

Clothing

Wear what you would wear to a client meeting, in a fit that is comfortable when you sit and stand. Solid colours and simple textures photograph well. Busy patterns, fine stripes and large logos can distract. Bring a second option, since it is easier to choose on the day than to regret it later. For teams, agree a colour range in advance (for example, dark tones or neutrals) so the final set feels cohesive without everyone wearing the same thing.

Grooming

Tidy up a day or two before, not on the morning itself, so a fresh haircut or shave has settled. Keep makeup natural and matched to how you usually look. If you wear glasses, bring them and tell us, since lighting can be adjusted to reduce glare.

Plan the use

Think about where the photo will appear. A LinkedIn profile photo is cropped into a small circle, so tight framing works well. A website "About" page often suits a wider crop with space around you. Telling us the main use lets us shoot the right frames.

For teams: organise the logistics

  • Pick a quiet room with a clear wall or space and some natural light if possible.
  • Give each person a time slot, with a few minutes of buffer between.
  • Tell staff what to wear and what to expect, so no one arrives surprised.
  • Make a note of any privacy preferences. Our guide to style standards and privacy rules for New Zealand corporate headshots covers what to agree before the day.

If you also want a relaxed group or culture image, our team photo ideas give you options that work well on a website or in a newsletter.

Studio, office or outdoors?

Each location has a place, and the right one depends on your purpose and your people.

At your office. The most convenient option for a team. It saves everyone travel time and keeps the shoot to a predictable block. The limit is the space you have available, so a quiet, tidy room helps.

In a studio. A controlled setting with consistent lighting, good for individuals who want a clean, classic look and no distractions.

Studio, office or outdoors?

Outdoors. Parks, waterfront and city streets give a softer, more relaxed feel and suit professionals in creative fields, real estate or coaching. If you like this idea, our guide to photo locations in Auckland covers where to shoot and what to know before you go. Weather is the variable, so a plan B is sensible.

A Rowan Freeman perspective

Most people who contact us about headshots are not worried about the price first. They are worried about the camera. They tell us they hate having their photo taken, they never know what to do with their hands, and the last photo they had done looked stiff.

That is the problem we try to solve, and it is why we set up our packages the way we do. A headshot is only worth paying for if it looks like you on a good day, and that depends on how comfortable you are, not on how expensive the lighting is. So we keep the session relaxed, we talk you through each pose and we pay attention to what is working as we go. You do not need to know how to pose. That is our job.

For teams, the same principle applies with more planning. We aim for a consistent look across the whole group, while giving each person a moment to settle so the final images do not look like a production line. The Half day Office photoshoot exists for exactly this: one visit, one setup, and a set of staff photos that look like they belong together.

We publish our prices because we think you should be able to compare before you get in touch. If you tell us who needs photos, where they will be used and when you need them, we can usually tell you quickly which package fits and what it will cost.

Getting a quote for your shoot

If you already know roughly what you need, the quickest way to firm up a price is to tell us the number of people, the location and the date you are working towards. For one person, The Short one (from $345) and The Standard one ($575) cover most needs. For a team at your workplace, the Half day Office photoshoot ($2,300) is the package to ask about.

Common mistakes that cost you time or money

  • Choosing on price alone. The cheapest quote may deliver a single image, or none edited. Compare what is included before you compare the total.
  • Leaving the brief vague. "Professional headshots" means different things to different people. Show examples of the look you like.
  • Booking too late. If you need photos for a launch, a new hire or a conference, allow a few weeks for the shoot and delivery.
  • Skipping the portfolio. The photographer's examples tell you more about your likely result than any description does.
  • Forgetting staff comfort. Nervous staff produce stiff photos. Give people notice and a short explanation of what will happen. A relaxed team is the easiest way to get good images in a short time.
  • Not planning refreshes. People change roles, hairstyles and looks. Many professionals update their headshot every couple of years, so budget for it as a regular cost rather than a one-off.

Why a professional headshot is worth the cost

Your headshot is often the first impression a client, employer or colleague has of you. It appears on LinkedIn, in email, on your company website and in proposals, and it is usually seen before anyone has met you. A photo that looks like you, in good light, with a relaxed expression, supports trust. A dated or poorly lit one can quietly work against you.

For a business, consistent team photos also signal that the company is organised and that people are proud to work there. The cost of a single half-day shoot is small next to the time you spend building a website, writing proposals and winning clients, all of which carry those images.

FAQ

How much does a corporate headshot cost in Auckland?

At Life in Style Photography, individual headshots start from $345 (The Short one) and The Standard one is $575. A half-day shoot at your office is $2,300. Other photographers price differently, so compare what is included, such as session length, edited images and location costs, not just the headline figure.

Do I need to wear makeup for a headshot?

No. Wear what you would normally wear on a good day, and keep it natural so you still look like yourself. If you do wear makeup, matte products and a light hand tend to photograph well. Tell your photographer about any skin or lighting concerns before the shoot so they can adjust.

Is it cheaper to book a team or individuals?

Usually a team booking works out cheaper per person once several people need photos, because the setup is done once. Our Half day Office photoshoot is $2,300. Ask how many people the time block covers, then divide the price by that number. For one or two people, individual sessions are normally the better fit.

Do the prices include GST?

It depends on the photographer, so always ask for the GST position in writing. Businesses registered for GST charge 15% on top of their prices, and registration is compulsory once turnover reaches the $60,000 threshold. If you plan to claim the cost as a business expense, ask for a proper invoice.

How long does a headshot session take?

A short individual session is quick, and a standard session allows more time for changes of outfit and a wider choice of images. A team shoot at your office is organised in time slots so each person is in and out quickly. Tell us your headcount and we will plan the schedule around your working day.
